NATIONAL INSTITUTIONAL RANKING FRAMEWORK (NIRF)

Institutional Ranking, in this era of cut-throat competition, is a must, if the institutions are to improve constantly. Rankings have been proven to significantly help maintain and build institutional position and reputation. The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) was approved by the MHRD and launched by the then Hon’ble Minister of Human Resource Development on 29th September 2015.

The importance of having a national ranking system is that it helps students in choosing the best University/College of any disciplines. A national ranking ensures that all higher educational institutes strive hard to improve their rankings. As decided by the Ministry of HRD, Ranking of institutions of Higher Education is generally done annually and the ranks be declared on the 1st Monday of April every year.

The Parameters covered broadly under NIRF include:

  1. Teaching Learning and Resources,
  2. Research Professional Practice & Collaborative Performance,
  3. Graduation Outcome,
  4. Outreach & Inclusivity, and
  5. Perception

And, the NIRF covers the following disciplines:

  1. Engineering,
  2. Management,
  3. Pharmacy,
  4. Medical,
  5. Architecture,
  6. Law,
  7. Universities, and
  8. Colleges
