As reflected in the motto “Duty and Unity”,the NCC aims at developing character, comradeship, discipline, a secular outlook, the spirit of adventure and ideals of selfless service amongst young citizens. Further, it aims at creating a pool of organized, trained and motivated youth with leadership qualities in all walks of life, who will serve the Nation regardless of which career they choose. The NCC also provides an environment conducive to motivating young Indians to join the armed forces. NCC was introduced in LilongHaoreibi College on 23rd May, 2003.

In consistent with the norms at the National Level, the NCC activity at the Institution is guided by certain Core Values. These include the following:

  1. A sense of patriotic commitment to encourage cadets to contribute to national development.
  2. Respect for diversities in religion, language, culture, ethnicity, life style and habitat to instil a sense of National unity and social cohesion.
  3. Abiding commitment to learn and adhere to the norms and values enshrined in the Indian Constitution.
  4. Understanding the value of a just and impartial exercise of authority.
  5. Ability to participate in community development and other social programme.
  6. A healthy life style free of substance abuse and other unhealthy practices.
  7. Sensitivity to the needs of poor and socially disadvantaged fellow citizens.
  8. Inculcating habits of restraint and self-awareness.
  9. Understanding the values of honesty, truthfulness, self-sacrifice, perseverance and hard work.
  10. Respect for knowledge, wisdom and the power of ideas.

Dr.LeimapokpamDorendro Singh, Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics is presently the programme officer of NCC Unit of LilongHaoreibi College. The NCC programme officer conducts one theory class and one Physical class every week. The classes and instructions provided in the college leads to B-Certificate or C-Certificates of NCC. The Certificates are conferred by NCC Shillong Division.

Eligibility Conditions:

  1. Citizen of India or a subject of Nepal.
  2. Bearing good moral character.
  3. Enrolled in an educational institution.
  4. Meets the prescribed medical standards.

Age

  1. Junior Division/Wing (Boys/Girls) – 12 years to 18½ years
  2. Senior Division/Wing (Boys/Girls) – Up to 26 years

Enrolment Period

  1. Junior Division/Wing (Boys/Girls) – 2 years
  2. Senior Division/Wing (Boys/Girls) – 3 years

Application for Enrolment

A student desirous of being enrolled in the Senior Division shall apply to the Officer Commanding of the nearest NCC Unit in the prescribed form.
